In its fourth decade of existence, Mummenschanz mask theatre is still one of the most successful theatre groups of the world. Its breakthrough happened with an extended Broadway run at the Bijou Theatre in New York from 1977 till 1980. Never before and ever since a show without words or music had succeeded to stay on Broadway for three years. Mummenschanz has played its humour, fun and magic into the hearts of theatregoers across all continents.
With the decision to set up the Mummenschanz foundation in 1998 a new era began. The continuous worldwide success met the interest of substantial sponsors whose financial support promoted the continuation of the creative work for the new show Mummenschanz "3x11".
